On June 19, 1904, the Russian Post Office signed with G.A.Lessner contract for the supply of 14 light postal vans for the St.Petersburg post office to replace the postal cars of the Frese company, burned down during the fire. The first postal van "Lessner Type 1" was manufactured in March 1905. For the construction of these machines, ready-made light chassis were ordered from Germany, but the motors, transmission elements and bodywork were manufactured in-house in St. Petersburg. This fact allows us to consider postal vans as the first trucks of the Lessner brand, which is confirmed by their official index - “Type 1”. The vehicles were equipped with 2-cylinder engines with a capacity of 6-9.5 hp, a 3-speed gearbox, they could carry 15 poods (240 kg) of cargo. The post office paid 2940 rubles for each van. Delivery "Lessners" served at the St. Petersburg post office until 1914.
