The BA-64 is a Soviet light all-wheel drive armored car from World War II.
Development years: Created between July and December 1941.
Base: GAZ-64 (later GAZ-67) all-wheel drive passenger car.
Key feature: The first domestic armored car with all-wheel drive, providing excellent cross-country performance (could climb grades up to 30°).
Armament: 7.62 mm DT (Degtyarev tank) machine gun.
Purpose and use: In the Red Army (Workers' and Peasants' Red Army), the vehicle was used for reconnaissance, communications, artillery fire adjustment, and convoy escort. Thanks to its maneuverability, the armored car was very effective in urban combat. The most widely produced modification was the BA-64B with a wide track, produced since 1943. After the war, the armored cars were used as training and combat vehicles and were removed from service in the Soviet Army in the first half of the 1950s.
