In the USSR 1949-1957 ZIS-110 phaetons were often used for ceremonial welcomes of foreign dignitaries.
They were also used during visits abroad by members of the USSR Government or during their trips around the country.

ZIS-110 phaetons began to be used for troop reviews at military parades in the USSR.
They were often equipped with radios: microphones were mounted on stands, and the radios were stored in the trunk. A special grab handle was installed in the cabin for holding on while driving.
